Environmental Projects
DSN&A has successfully undertaken salt marsh creation and transplant projects as well as creating subterranean bulkhead projects for shoreline interface areas, combining efficient deepwater use for marinas while, at the same time, enhancing the ecosystem by creating habitat.
Other DSN&A projects have included the successful use of riprap and stone seawalls to provide meaningful habitat while protecting the shoreline from erosion.
DSN&A enhances the environment by specifying meaningful construction approaches, including the creation of desirable habitats through the use of compatible materials for the undersides of docks and in-water structures. Such practices foster the growth of fouling and other marine organisms that contribute significantly to the aquatic food chain. Other dual-use efficient approaches include the use of floats and docks in suitable areas for the development of aquaculture/mariculture programs, such as shellfish farms.
DSN&A believes in quality land use and stresses the importance of understanding the environmental site conditions prior to the purchase or development of a Master Plan and/or use programs.

Seawall Erosion ProtectionThe protection of the seawall is two fold it protects the Upland and Natural Habitat |
Native Upland PlantingsNative Upland Plantings help to further stabilize the soil and habitat. |
Stone BeachStone Beaches can reduce the impact of wave action on the seawall. |
Marshland ProtectionPublic and Private Docking Facilities can work with and benefit from Native Wetlands |
New Marsh PlantingNew wetlands will reduce the damage to the upland during period of high water. |
Habitat and Riprap ConstructionRiprap also provides a variety of conditions for aquatic wildlife. |
